Well looks like someone has been taking cues from Brentalfloss eh?

How could I resist! I've also been watching a bit of musical theater lately, and just felt inspired.
Just when I thought the first one was just plain silly this just outdoes the original XD
I like to raise my own bar.
Woah woah woah wait you're finally throwing in the towel? No more animations from one of the few surviving Newgrounders from the golden age? No come on say it isnt so! I loved your work since I was a kid why stop now? I mean sure maybe youre not Egoraptor or Pendleton Ward or whoever the fuck is big in the animation world these days but still you were like a legend growing up. Still I guess if you choose to move on to something better I suppose I wont bother arguing with you
Unless is it just the death of Gerkinman the character? If so why? As far as I know he held up pretty well over the years what makes you think he wasnt as loved as you thought? Either way this was an interesting conclusion to a long running character. All the best to you Gerkinman
Ha ha, nobody said anything about throwing in the towel.
On a side note, Egoraptor doesn't animate ANYTHING anymore (he pays other people to do his work for him and then takes all the credit, not to mention if he did make anything other then a parody his fan base would crucify him, he's trapped in a lot of ways) and Pen Ward had to step down because he was becoming too stressed by the amount of other crap that came with the job, so I can safely say i'm glad i'm not like either of those people.
Gerkinman as a character is going away, he feels like baggage at this point, a decade is a long time to carry a character around and to not have them stick, so its time to move onto other things.
I will still be animating shorts, and I want to start experimenting with other formats of storytelling, they just wont centre around this character, or the nimbin characters, or anything from the last 10 years.
Its time to move on.
A bit too talky for the most part buuut I do love the sprite work on this so it all evens out in the end
All i know how to do is talk!
Oh fuck you for the cliffhanger
No but for real though this story is just becoming more of a disturbing mindfuck by the second. REALLY hoping the 3rd movie will be the most terrifying 8bit pixel thingy movie ever. Good luck!
oh god I was reaaaaaaally hoping no one would say that lol i can feel the preasure building
Credit cards are 2spooky4me. I'm gonna have nightmares now :(
It's alright man.
Looks great but one thing that's been pissing me off a bit...
390,000 bucks as a goal? Are you fucking kidding me why so much! I understand you have a small team and your kickstarter says where its going but like Madness Project Nexus 2 was only 60 thousand or something like that and had a small team. Isn't this just for a Steam release? I hate to say it but I dont think you'll make the deadline unless you lower the amount I REALLY want to see this project completed but I have a bad feeling it wont
Look at the concept art for JRF3. Look at the art in Madness. They are two completely different art styles and approaches to the medium. Madness recycles and reuses a large amount of it's animation, which makes it way less difficult to make and way less expensive.
Johnny is the complete opposite: everything is unique, hand animated, hand drawn. Did Akira look like it was cheap to make? Well that is the animation quality I am striving for. Keep in mind Johnny is just as much an ANIMATED FILM as it is an interactive puzzle adventure game.
You won't find another 2D Adventure like this on kickstarter because frankly nobody is willing to do it. Film-quality 2D animation is a horrendous amount of labor which I will attempt to explain in a video update of myself talking.
Look man. If you truly love Johnny, don't worry about the end number. Just worry about wanting to see a new Johnny game. Pledging and being positive is what is most important right now, regardless if it succeeds or not. I have brought a substantial amount of free content to the internet. I have grown as an artist and I no longer wish to make little baby flashes, but instead full fledged epics.
I am not trying to screw anyone over here. I am a real artist trying to make real art and I will try best I can in my future video update to explain why this is so hard to make and why it takes so much time to make.
It would be a real shame if nobody got to see what this game could become. The concept art should be a testament to that.
That was just downright amazing!
So it's basically CG meets live action or something like that? It's almost hard to tell which is which. But thats what makes it so brilliant
hey Wegra, thanks! Everything in the video was stop-motion shot on a green table with green walls behind it, then keyed out in After Effects. All the backgrounds were then made in After Effects by compositing still images of different pieces.
Oh dear god almighty why did I think it was a good idea to watch this with the lights out at 2 AM. *Shivers*
I got goosebumps man. I cant remember the last time that happened. I'd hate to see what the sequel is like brrrrrrr
Nice work again. Just goes to show even in pixel form you can be scary as fuck
thank you :) and just to put you at ease ... part 2 is more unsettling
